Had toast and a nectarine for breakfast, plan on having a sensible lunch, but man those cookies!

I have to say though, I cant wait to come back and get back into the plan I have been following. I have felt so much better.

Here is to resisting as many desserts as possible during the break!

Day 11.....Almost to vacation heaven

Man its hard to balance everything! I usually make my calories every day, but it has to be a VERY disciplined day to make fat grams and carbs as well. I never go over by much, but it is hard to get that perfect balance.

When you are only supposed to be getting 1460 calories per day on your plan, you want to eat every one of them. This means that if you are close to the line on calories other things may not make it.

But today I knew I needed some help on lunch so I went to Harmons on a search for diet meals. This one looked like what I was craving. It was only 280 calories and 5 grams of fat. Not bad. And the best part, it was delcious!

I also grabbed some sugar snap peas, almonds, a nectarine (which by the way was $1.20, and the bountiful basket seem like a great deal). I just need to make it through tomorrow and then I am on break for vacation. When I come back, I will have to hit it hard again. I am glad I started before vacation though. It gave my body some extra motivation and drive to do it again.

Just need to get Josh to do it! But only he can make that choice :)

Day 10.....it's like a vacation right?

So Day 10, yesterday, we had a team activity up in the mountains that was catered and then had a birthday dinner for a friend. I ate a nectarine for breakfast and only a smoothie at dinner, but I think the delicious lunch for work may have put me over my calories. Guess we will have to see when I put it all in myfitnesspal.

I guess we will consider that may day off for the second week, but I kind of didnt want to take one since I will be off the diet my entire vacation which starts Friday eve. Oh well :)

I'll just keep on keeping on.

Day 9.......Bountiful Basket!

So my friend Nicole introduced my to Bountiful basket. It is a weekly service where you pick up a giant amount of fresh fruits and veggies for only 20 bucks! Its great. $10 a piece!We are splitting the cost and there is a ton of food.

One of my favorite things in this basket is nectarines! Are you kidding me they are so delicious. So they have been part of my breakfast every morning this week.

There were also potatoes, tomatoes, fresh broccoli, carrots, and lettuce! So good. Makes it so easy to eat healthy when its cheap. Now if only we were ever home to cook all this deliciousness!

Things are going well, went to lunch at kneaders today got a turkey sandwich, low salt chips, and a zuchini muffin for the treat. It was delish!

Day 8.....Trying something new is great!

What is this??? You may wonder? It is the prickly pear cactus fruit. And come to find out this is the fruit that is in that Nopalea drink which started this whole health kick. I had to try it and it is so good! For sure!

It has a ton of seeds but you can either scoop them out or you can spit them out, either way. It is just so yummy and you can taste the healthiness. As a reminder from earlier posts this is the one that is supposed to be so helpful to your joints and for inflamation!

So, we will see, but I am hoping it is :) It would also be great in a smoothie or juiced!

Other than that today I have had a nectarine and oatmeal. I also plan on having some chips and fresh salsa. For dinner we are headed out with my dad, so I am trying to save my calories.

Yeah I will probably buy many more of these. And the best thing about it is it is magenta inside! So pretty. Delicious and gorgeous!

Day 5,6, & 7....The weekend!

Weekends can be a bit rough, so I decided like most regular diets there will be one day in the week that I am off. I think it will be Fri, Sat, or Sun and I will just decide each week as it comes along. Of course I will still be careful and try to stay in my alotment of calories, carbs, and fat but I think I need a reward day of sorts.

This weekend we had something every night! So that makes it hard, but I think we planned well. Friday I went 106 over in calories, but since my limit is 1460 I didnt feel too guilty. Saturday I stayed on track and I think it was easy for two reasons. 1) WE only ate two meals that day, breakfast and a late lunch 2) Our lunch was at Cafe Fresh in good earth which was delicious! I love that place.

Sunday was my free day, but I still stayed pretty close within my ranges. We had dinner at a friends house who made some delicious carne asada, so it was worth the calories! HAHAHA! :)

It's going well! I am conscious of everything I am eating and doing. It's nice. Before I just did whatever, but now I track it all. I don't think Josh quite knows what to think of it yet.

Here it to another successful week, one day at a time.

Day 4....looks so good I want some more

Today is a little easier than yesterday. I am starting to be a tad less hungry, but I have a ton more energy.

Breakfast was oatmeal, lunch is a turkey cheese wrap w/blueberries & strawberries on the side sweetened by a half pack of Stevia (thanks Larry from work!). I am excited to dig in.

Dinner is rather hard, just because we have to get something that both Josh and I like. I think I am willing to not eat as much to sacrifice calories, but at the end of a long day Josh is just hungry. As long as we have a veggie or two in there, the main dish can be flexible whether that is chicken or pasta.

Blogging this makes me know I have to do it! It's nice. Even yesterday my husband was like "Are you going on your bike ride?" and I hadnt event told him in person I was going. But it made me have some accountability. However, I didnt do that bikeride last night, because we had to keep waiting for the outback free steak promotion to work, so I did stay at home, but we went to bed nice and early at 10:15 ish. Early for us!

So here is to the continued journey! Dont stop believin!

Day 3....The afternoon snack

Ok I think day three is hard. Lol. You are past the excitement of starting on day 1, you arent on day 2 saying "I cant screw this up yet!", you are on day 3 and its a Wednesday! Boring and monotonous!

But today has been fine. Had some blueberries and strawberries for breakfast. I budgeted in calorie wise two mini donuts that someone from work brought in (not the best I know but enough to get me through my WED!). I love my fitness pal. It has everything! I typed in the donuts and thier brand and they were in there! And it was easy to get the portion right for what I ate.

Went to lunch with a friend at Zupas and everything was fine except the pannini! Those have so much fat and calories, holy crap! So I am fine calorie and carb wise but that put me over for the day in Fat Grams! Danget! I had no idea.

So I am having a super sensible snack right now. Snap peas and Acai/Aloe Lemon juice mixed. Yummy! And it is giving me great afternoon energy. If I get desparate I have an orange on my desk.

I just have to be really careful for dinner tonight, however, I already logged a 45 minute bikeride for exercise today and since we dont have anything going on tonight when it cools off I am going to make sure I do it! That way I can burn off those stupid extra fat grams from Zupas!

Day 2.....halfway through....

Today is going well! I already am starting to feel I have more energy!

For breakfast I had blue berries, strawberries, some fresh salsa and chips, and some acai juice.

For lunch I am having blueberries, sugar snap peas, strawberries, lettuce wraps with just turkey and cheese, and half acai/ half aloe lemon juice.

And best of all it tastes delicious. Yums.

Tonight is Bunco, so I am hoping they have somewhat healthy food, but if not I ate well enough today where I can try to balance the calories.

I also found out the my mind twin, Nicole Murphy, and I had changed our diet on the same day! WOW! So we are helping each other.

My friend at work also reminded me of www.myfitnesspal.com which I am once again using to track calories.

Making an Effort.....

Ever since my last car accident and all the stuff that has happened with my parents I just do not feel good. Back hurts, wrist hurts, neck hurts, head hurts, stomach hurts, and the joints in my right hand hurt. I have just had enough of being in pain, feeling tired, and feeling sick. I don't tell too many people how bad it really is, but it is really bad.

So I decided to make an effort, and make a change. It all starts one step at a time doesn't it? I want to be a healthy person who can be a good example to my kids. I want them to know that a healthy lifestyle is the best lifestyle. When you are going through a lot emotionally, you tend to not pay attention to this stuff, but its just to the point where it is absolutely necessary.

It's time to have accountability. To make a change and hopefully share my success.

It all started with an infomercial the other night. It was for some juice, reminded me of a Tahitian Noni, that came from the fruit of a cactus in Arizona. This juice is supposed to help inflamation in the body, which is one of my main issues. I also feel that this is the most lethal and dangerous thing that is wrong with me. Inflammation is a silent killer and can effect everything from your sinuses, to digestive system, to your joints. I was on a mission to find this cactus fruit.

I went to Harmons on my lunch determined. Determined to make a change. They did not have the cactus fruit but here are some of the delcious items they did have.

Day 1: For lunch I ate about ten delicious snap pees. I wrapped tukey and cheese in peices of lettuce and ate about five of those. I had about ten fresh blueberries and drank some acai juice. Then topped the meal off with some fresh salsa.

And as of right now there is one emotion. JOY. Joy, that I have taken the first step to make a change. Joy that there are so many options available that taste as good or better than the crappy stuff. And, Joy that somehow someway I just walked into that store and did it.

Now, I am now saying I will never go to Mama Chus or have a delicious treat once in a while, but I am making from now on a valiant effort to eat much better. There may be days when I fall off the wagon, but hopefully I am able to make a change.

So for tracking purposes lets pretend I weigh 130 LBS (yeah right, when I was 22!) If I have weight loss progress we will deduct it from that, other progress such as loss of pain, etc. I will just keep you posted. I will try to post every day, so that for one thing I am accountable and for another I can track the journey.

Christopher Cross Concert

Well, admidst all the sadness and stress of this weekend with all that has happened with my dad, we were afraid we would not get to use our Christopher Cross tickets. Everything turned out alright, and I was able to go after work and spend time with my dad and also make the concert as well. It was very relaxing and helped me to get my mind off things. He is such a great artist!

IT HAS FISH IN IT?????!!!!!???$%@!

So today I had a crazy experience!

For those of you who know me well, you know this. I do not eat fish. Partially because I am allergic to shellfish aka clams, mussles, scallops, etc (potentially crab? dunno....) and partially because I can't handle the thought of eating something that looks at you and goes "blub, blub, blub and is slimy, scaley, you get the picture....

So I went to Happy Sumo with my friend Manu, asked for my regular fabulous waitress Heather, got in her section and all was right with the world. A good lunch with a good friend = good times.

Our waitress brought out our rolls and everything looked delicious. We dug right in. I always get the same two rolls. The Buffalo (a chicken roll) and the veggie tempura. Both NON fish rolls.

My friend and I were chatting away about this, that and the other not paying much attention to ANYTHING. I had eaten a few peices of both of my rolls. Within about a minute my waitress ran to our table and said "The cooks made you the VEGAS roll!" I said, "Oh no, what does it have in it??!". She said salmon, crab, avacado, and cream cheese. I knew all of those were safe accept for CRAB. Its the mystery meat! Is it shellfish? Is it not? Was it on that list my doctor gave me when I was about 9 years old? I DONT REMEMBER! STRESSSSSSS!

I assured the waitress it wasnt her fault (she really is the best waitress ever, has my order memorized) It was totally the cooks fault. The rolls look identical, but really when you are cooking it how the crap can you mess that up. The waitress cant know, other than you saying something because they look exactly the same.

So Manu and I wait with anticipation. Is there going to be hives, throat swelling, etc. etc and unknown etc? The last time I had something related to shellfish (scallops) when I was 9 years old, I had hives all over my body within five minutes. The time before that I had eaten clams at a friend of my parents and something similar happened. That is when I got the test for allergies . Well, that five minutes seemed very long, but nothing happened. Thank goodness!

Nevertheless the manager and waitress came over comped our meal, and apologized over and over. I think it helps that I am in there ALL the time, so they REALLY felt bad. But it really is just the cooks fault. Hope they get yelled at. They said they would take care of bills or anything for any results of the fish issues. They were great. We still tipped our waitress, because she is the best, and it was not her fault. But I havent had the crap scared out of me like that in a long time.

So I know the question you are all asking with a sarcastic tone of voice, "Well, was it good"? Um...the answer is that it was a tempura roll and I had dipped it in ponzu sauce so really that is what it tasted like. I noticed it was a littler creamier than usual but I thought that was extra avocado not cream cheese. I lucked out on the roll that was brought to me, only a small portion of it was what I could potentially be allegic to (the crab) and it is fresh crab mixed with processed. I suppose I lucked out. Good thing I usually have good luck, or I may have been home with hives and who else knows what!

So now when ya'll asked me, "Well, have you even tried REAL sushi?", the answer from me will be "YES! And I never will again!"

Now that my friends is quite a fishy tale, wouldnt you say??

When life gives you lemons.....

Josh and I have the privilege of going to all the BYU games with some of the coolest people and biggest BYU fans I know. the Glems. We have the greatest time, laugh our heads off, and they really have made us enjoy BYU sports even more than we already did. We met at the basketball games in 2008 and became fast friends. They were gracious enough to get us tickets with thiers for the 09-10 season of sports. We just love them.

We recently found out this past week that Eric was diagnosed with cancer, more specifically lymphoma. He and his family are absolutely amazing people and even though you may not know them, I ask if you will include them in your prayers as they travel through this journey. We love them very much and want to send all the love we can thier way.

Sometimes in life we don't really understand or know why things happen the way they do, especially with things like cancer. All we can do is hope that heavenly father can give us peace, understanding, and give us all the strength we can to support those we love.

They recently started a blog entitled "When life gives you lemons, make Glemonade" (their last name). This is indicative of the amazing positive wonderful people they are.

Glems, if you read this, we just think you are the coolest people out there. We love you and pray for you and hope everything will go the very best it can.

It has been a crazy, crazy, crazy past three months, but it has been some of the best of my life. I have learned so much and learned to appreciate everything and everyone so much more!

Let start off with my new job! I am now working as a Marketing Analyst at Xactware. I am loving it. I went on the job hunt and was lucky enough to get two job offers, but after much prayer, tears, and excitement decided on Xactware. It is a great company, and I work with some really good people, so I am excited about it. I am loving the work I am doing, and have about 5 to 10 projects going on any given day. Crazy enough two of the people on my team are Jen Swenson Ross' husband Brad, and Tom Bay's cousin Megan! They are the coolest! I feel like its a great fit for me particularly with the experience and education I have had, it is right up my alley. Change is always scary, especially after you have worked at a company for 9 years but a higher power had different plans for me.I am so excited to be a part of this cool company, and am so glad they saw the potential in me that they needed for the posistion.

Before I started at Xactware Josh and I had planned a trip to Disneyland(since he had never been), but then his grandmother died, and he had to travel to NY so we had to make other plans. She was a wonderful woman and took very good care of Josh and we will miss her dearly. I stayed home from the NY trip because tickets were quite pricey. It was sad not to go, but lucky I didnt as that is when I ended up getting the Xactware interviews. I am so thankful for the support of my closest girlfriends like Crystal and Amber, for helping to make my difficult Job decision while Josh was out of town and just supporting me. He had so much on his mind, it was nice to have my amazing girlfriends to lean on!

Fortunately for Josh and I, Xactware was kind and let us take that vacation we missed, right as I started work. We got to go to Vegas (as you all know my favorite place) and Disneyland. We got to hang out with one of my best friends Nate Steel and his beautiful girlfriend Gina! It was good times. On the way back we stayed at our timeshare in Vegas and got to go see the show ICE at the Riviera. We had a great time. It is always fun to go to Disney, it brings back the magic of magic, and lets you feel like a kid again!

We got to meet the characters and that was so fun. Nate and Gina know the park like the back of thier hands so they were great tour guides. The fireworks at the castle we absolutely magical!

We got to meet up with our good friends Nate and Rachel on the way home. Who knew Cedar was going to be where we would meet for dinner?

Toward the end of our trip, I found out we had lost two beautiful people and angels from this world. Michelle Langston Bancroft and Nicole Tyndall. In a way I got to say "goodbye" to both of them and I felt very blessed for that. Luckily Michells husband Justin had let us know that there was not much time, and so a group of us from high school were able to go and visit her before she passed. We were able to reminisce, laugh, and talk about good times past and present an I will always cherish that time I had with her. Nicole I had seen a few weeks earlier at the movie theater, we hugged, laughed, took a picture, and planned disco skating. She was doing the best I had ever seen her and she was SOOO happy. The both of them will be missed so much. Here are pictures with both of them not to long before we lost them. I love you Chelle and Tyndall! You are amazing!

Another sweet friend of mine, Heather England, just found out her brain cancer that she thought she had won the battle against has come back in two places. Please put her in your prayers. She is an amazing little person and the world would not be the same without her.

On a happier note, I got to attend two wonderful Reunions! One was my 10 year high school reunion :) Talk about crazy. It was so successful and we had so many people! It was great to see people and reconnect. Facebook made that a lot easier, since you feel like you know half the people through thier blogs, facebook, myspace, twitter, etc, but its great to see faces and see how great people turned out. I will do a post of just reunion, but here is one to get you by.......

The other reunion was our old work, the harris/wirthlin reunion. It was at our house and it was a beautiful day. It was good to see all our old work peeps, they are like family, and I miss them very much. We do one of those reunions every six months so we can keep in touch.

I got the chance to go to No doubt with Josh and Taylor Swift with Amber. Great concerts! I was so lucky! Check Facebook for pics soon, there are way too many good ones to post!

That I just feel like I am SOOO blessed in my life. I got to book my Hawaii trip for work, a got a box of about 20 DVD's as a present from the movie premier company i work for, and I just got some gorgeous prints back of our family pics and I am just so happy to be married to my wonderful husband, live in a beautiful home, have our pets, and have wonderful friends and family that surround me! I am just so happy :)

So on Sat May 10th we celebrated the tenth annual WEEN-O-RAMA. It was the best yet! We reserved the Big bear park in Sandy, and weened it up all night long!

Josh and I were in charge of the Wii bowling tourney. Connor Townsend won the trophy (personalized by us) and it was well deserved! It was good to see everyone that came. Many of them it had been since high school! We also brought some of our Happy valley friends to join in the fun. This is an event I look forward to all year and I am glad it is such a success. Josh was a trooper and was on the grill mostly all night making delicious weens! We had a great time. Tom (The ween king) is amazing at putting this all together, we appreciate all his hard work!

Girls Night out!

So Friday Night we finally did our girls night out that we have been waiting for! Niki and Ash had thier B Days like two months ago and it seriously has taken us this long to do this little get together! It was so much fun and we laughed so hard! Benny Hansen had a graduation party at his place up in Traverse Mountain! It was amazing. We saw lots of friends that we have not seen for a long time, inlcluding our good friend Ryan Christiensen. We stayed about an hour..

Then we moved on to the next part of out night! We had a delicious dinner at the Citris Grill in Draper. We were going to go out dancing at the Hotel, but there was some specialty DJ and we were not about to pay 15 bucks, so we went over to Port O call!

Port was quite an adventure we will say. I just need to let everyone know that right when we were going in there were two women in front of us with

1982 claw bangs

and I thought I was going to die. It was just funny because I saw all these people that I dont really know but I just remember seeing around at clubs 8 yrs ago and they are still single and going to clubs, its a time warp. They were like 30 then so how old are they now. But one of the few cool people we saw there was Drew Lowry and he just made our night, it was nice to see a younger face then 35, lol. We laughed really hard and danced the night away so it was really fun!

After Dancing we dropped Ash off at her car, and on our way home we stopped back at Bennys party. There was a bunch more peeps, since Benny has like two million friends, and we just visited for about another hour! I hope we do it again sooner than later!

Well in talking to my friend Niki, I really decided I need to TRY to keep this up for my friends who don't have facebook or myspace. All is well with Josh and I, we are in the process of trying to find a house, and so that is going to occupy a lot of our time for the next few months. We had the opportunity to get out of town for a wedding ( for our friends Jaime and Stephanie Wyatt), and go play in beautiful California. It was so fun, if you are ever out in LA, you should go, its free and it was really just a fun thing to do. We also got to go to American Gladiators, Wicked, Huntington Beach, and Santa Monica Beach. We stayed with my best friend Nate Steel, and he was the best host ever. We had a great time, I cant wait for vacation again. The next one is Courtneys wedding in Vegas, and then Cabo.

If you are all wondering how working from home is going, it is better than I thought. I just close my door and its like being in my office so its not too bad.

Last night we got to go with a bunch or friends to Paramore and Jimmy Eat World and it was an amazing concert! We had floor seats so we would run between those and where our friends we sitting.

A Very Needed Update!

So Its been a while, but I decided I wanted to keep this thing updated! Its fun! Josh and I are married now and have been married for a year on August 18th. We are really happy and loving life. I think sometimes I keep us a little too busy, but that is ok we pack a lot in. Josh has a few groups he plays poker with and he is really liking that. My job is fantastic I just love it. I get to travel to Cinncinati and Atlanta from Sept 25 to Oct 10. I had a work meeting in upstate NY in early August so we got to see Josh's family and that was fun. This summer we also got to go to St George, Vegas, Portland, and I got to go to California to see my aunt before she moves to Hawaii! It's a rough life but someone has to do it. My Dad just had a big surgery so he is recovering and its not too fun. We have been to a few concerts this last summer, Incubus, The Frey, Fall Out Boy, Silver Sun Pickups, The Warped Tour, and My personal favorite Tony Bennett. Josh switched jobs for a little bit but now is back at good ole Harris Interactive. We are still living in our rental in Orem, hopefully we will buy early next year sometime. Well I think that is it, that is the update. I will post some picture history to catch up as well.

We're ENGAGED!!

Okay, its been WAY too long since we've updated our blog. This should be old news to most of you, but as of March 18th (St. Patricks Day, 2006) we are engaged!! There will be another post real soon with a complete review of how the engagement took place (complete with a picture story). We'll also include some pictures of the ring(s). We're very happy and excited to get married. The wedding will be August 18th in the Salt Lake City Temple, and then a ring-ceremony and reception at the South Mountain Golf Club House in Draper that same evening. Hooray!

To the left you'll find the most advanced piece of cellular telephone technology, and I have recently acquired it. It took over an hour of hastling the t-mobile representative but I finally got him to give me the phone for a mere $200, which is $100 off the price that most people get it for. The phone has a 1.3 megapixel camera, an mp3 player and a removable/expandable memory. I also found a way to trick the phone into being able to use any song as a ringtone, which has been great especially to have Rosie's ringtone as Kalai's "Divide Me," which has come to be 'our song'. The phone is so small, comparable to even the Razr, which is the newer popular phone I was about to upgrade to with Verizon. This has the most amazing screen resolution i've seen, as well as a great picture when it comes to photos. I was converted to this phone when I saw Christian (Rosie's best friend Amber's boyfriend) had it. If you want to take a look at it yourself, go HERE.

First Weekend in February:

Rosie and I had a lot going on this weekend and thought we'd show everyone how much fun we had. Friday night we went to the UVSC "All-Nighter," with our friend Matt. We got there early to help out and it turned out to be a lot of fun. First we all manned the popcorn machine. After the first batch got a little burnt, we learned from our mistake and turned out some sweet free popcorn. You gotta love the awesome orange Staff shirts we wore to show everyone how important we were...and good at making popcorn. After turning over the job to some other Staffers, we went to the ticket booth to sell admission bracelets. We definately saw a lot of interesting kids come through the door. We had to turn away quite a few underagers. The party went on until about 3am, we helped clean up and then went home and somehow got some sleep.
On Saturday at 1p we went to the BYU basketball game where we beat the Air Force University Falcons. The Falcons beat us on the road, so we had to give it our all at this game so we could take the win at home. Rosie, although a hard-core UVSC fan, joined in and helped BYU win an amazingly close game. We had a lot of fun and can't wait for the next home game.
Saturday night, we went to Velour, as we usually do at least once a week, and saw Palomino-probably our favorite local band. Below are some pictures that I caught on the digital.

Finally, on Sunday we got together with our game-night married/work friends to watch SuperBowl XL, while the Steelers put the smack down on the Seahawks. I will admit that I'm somewhat of a closet Seahawks fan and I was disappointed in the loss, but the get together was a lot of fun. Here are some pics from the party:

Spring Haven (UVSC Student Gov't Retreat)

This past weekend Rosie and I travelled up Hobble Creek canyon to Spring Haven-a huge cabin that's owned by BYU. This was for a UVSC Student Council Leadership retreat that turned out to be a lot of fun. The picture to the left is us in the back seat of a big truck driven by Rosie's friend Brook who, we'll admit, could pay a little more attention to the road (we were scared). You can see the iPod headphones we're sharing...we were trying to drown out the girls in the front seat singing Garth Brooks as loud as they could. You can see our friend Matt on the right-he came with us and we're glad he did. The trip was a lot of fun; I played a lot of basketball as well as some highly competative dodgeball. Rosie got her dance and her socializing on. All around it was a good time. We got there Friday evening and left Saturday around noon. Its real pretty up there, as you'll see in the following pictures:

Switchfoot at the Canyons in Park City

Tonight (Monday), Rosie and I ventured up to Park City once again to see Switchfoot at the Canyons resort. The show was free. We got up there early enough to have a pretty good spot in the crowd, however the high school kids got real excited and we had to bail from the crowd in fear that we'd get crushed and trampled. To your right you'll see Switchfoot, in all its glory rocking out with the song "Stars," their most famous song these days. There was a good opening band which came out first, followed by some fireworks.

The concert was pretty good, however it was pretty darn cold. We were all bundled up in our winter outfits including the new hats and rosie's scarf we bought prior to going to the show at the canyons. We also stopped by a shop at the Canyons and picked up some hand warmers which proved to be an awesome move since our hands were instantly frozen when we got up there.

Friday Night at Velour

Last night we went to Velour, the new local music venue in downtown provo, created by Cory Fox. Its a great place to play and a great place to watch some of the local artists that Rosie and I know. The first pic is of the band The Hideout; my friend Adam is the guitarist (left). They sounded great, including their cover of MJ's "Beat It" with guest vocalist Joshua James (with some sweet moves!). Joshua James and the Southern Boys played second and rocked the show. I was a little disappointed because the crowd was so loud, but they had a great show, as always. Joshua James has one of the most unique sounds around and I sure hope he makes something of his success so far. They rocked it with their classics: Tennessee, Glory from a Mountain, and Halelujah, along with Josh's newer song "Lovers without Love like Me." The headliner, a band we see very often around here, was the Matt Lewis band. They had a long set list with a lot of new songs that Rosie and I are finally getting to know good enough to start to sing along to. I recommend anyone who is a fan of rock, reggae, or any other kind of music that just sounds awesome to check these guys out. I think they've got some energetic music and Matt Lewis, the lead singer is always coming up with original freestyle rhymes throughout the whole show. I am told that Chad, the basist is getting married tomorrow, so congratulations to him and his significant other!! We've been friends with all of these guys for a while and the cool thing about going to their shows is that all of these guys are always out thanking us for coming. There are a lot of great people out in the local music scene and we're glad to know a lot of them. Its fun to get out and see them along with all the friends and fellow fans of these bands. On the right you see a somewhat blurry picture of Rosie and I on the front row of this new venue. I'm sure you'll see more posts with other bands that we follow around and do our best to support. Tonight we're planning on going to see G. Love and Special Sauce up in Park City, where the Sundance Film Festival is going on. Perhaps we'll see some famous people...we'll have our new camera!! Digital Upgrade!!!

Rosie and I just invested in a digital camera to make our lives so much easier (to document, that is)!! We had to rush to Salt Lake late tonight to find an in-stock Cannon PowerShot SD400 Elph digital camera at Circuit City. I priced cameras for a couple days before deciding on this one (google it and check it out!) We didn't have much time to play around with it last night cuz we went strait to Jordan Commons to see Chronicals of Narnia (excellent film!), so this is our first picture taken in my car with the new camara. As you can see, it works pretty good!! All I had to do was plug it into my computer and WAH-LAH, I can post pictures so easy!!! The main motivation for this digital upgrade was the disaster with our Hawaii trip pictures. A good number of them got damaged somehow and so we were both a bit upset. Having this camera will solve that problem as well as allow us to take a lot more pictures and more easily add them to this blog (to keep all you people coming back for more!!) We will be posting the pictures that came out well from our recent trip to Hawaii very soon, so keep checking back. We love you all!!

That's right! I finished! I graduated from BYU in December of 2005 and I tell you what, its so nice to be finished!! I don't know if it has hit me yet, since everyone is out of school for winter break, but I'm sure when everyone in Provo/Orem goes back to school and I'm just chillin that I'll get used to it real quick! So i've got my bachelors in psychology, which is useless, but I can use it with my experience to (hopefully) get out there and market myself. I've been applying to a few different employers here in Utah, hoping to stay around here at least until we're married. The next few months may be a little uncertain because I won't know what to do with my life now that I don't have to go to school anymore. I'm sure I'll find something to fill the time with. I'm hoping to get to the gym to lose a couple of the stress pounds i've gained over the last year. Perhaps i'll get another part time job to bring in some more cash...those student loan payments will start rolling in soon...dang! Anyway, it was a great experience for me to be at BYU for the past 4 1/2 years. I've grown a lot and learn a great deal. I won't lie, BYU students can be strange at times, but I made a lot of great friends and even better memories!

Josh and Rosie are still doing well at a year and a little over two months. We are trucking along to finish school and we are both almost college graduates. Crazy! A new page of our lives begin! Who knows where we will go and where this new turn will take us, but we are able to do anything together, thats for sure! We continually stay busy with not only school work, but double dates, concerts, bowling, and everything else. At this time of year we are so thankful for everything we have especially each other. Rosie's birthday is this next sunday!

A Brief Introduction

Here we are!! This picture was taken at the Sundance Amphitheatre sometime in August, I think. We were there for a free showing of Napoleon Dynamite, only the freakin' sweetest movie ever made (besides Glitter, of course)!! I thought this would be a good picture to introduce us and tell a little about ourselves. I (Josh) was born and raised (for the most part) in upstate NY in a small town called Seneca Falls. I moved to Utah in 2001 to go to BYU and I will graduate in December of this year. Rosie grew up in Draper, Utah and has celebrated graduation from UVSC, but is currently finishing her thesis paper for a finish in December as well. We both met at Wirthlin Worldwide (recently acquired by Harris Interactive) in mid-2002 (where we still currently work). It was not until September 12, 2004 that we began to hang out and date. We recently celebrated our 1 year dating anniversary and it just keeps getting better. Since we got together we've gone on numerous vacations accross the US including visiting New York City in November 2004, Hawaii in January of this year, California in August, and many more. All of these trips have been documented with photographs and will be represented at some point here in this blog, so check back often. For now, we will continue to be adventurous and keep you updated as often as we can. Bye for now.

Josh and Rosie's New Blog!!

So here it is, the beginning of something beautiful...or the visual and textual manifestation of something more beautiful. :) After having blog propoganda thrown at me from all angles, I suppressed my natural skepticism and decided "what the heck," and went for it. I figure this will be a great way to keep my family and friends updated as to what me and rosie are doing. That way, when asked what i've been up to, I can simply recite this web address and end the conversation (ah, the added free time!).
Also, Rosie and I are going to start posting our pictures from trips, dates and other random shenanigans. We have a lot of backdated pictures that we'll have to post when we get to it (eg. New York City, Hawaii, California, etc). Perhaps, if I get technical enough and this site allows for it, we may post some short video clips here from different trips we've gone on. Anyway, this should be fun, and if I am consistant with updates, it should be fun for the onlookers as well. Feel free to add your own comments here and keep us updated about yourselves.
